Use these directions for completing common tasks.
 

To create a New Schedule:

Click New on the File menu. Our Setup Wizard will guide you!
 


To add a Chart Title:

Choose Insert | Chart Title.

Enter the text and make formatting selections.


To set the project's Start and End Dates:

Click the Calendar icon on the Tool Bar.


To change the schedule layout (height, width, number of columns and rows):

Click the Page Layout icon on the Tool Bar.


To change the Date Headings:

Click the Date Heading icon on the Tool Bar.


To add a Column:

Choose Insert | Column and pick from available column types.


To move a Column:

  1. Select the Arrow Tool in the ToolBox.
  2. Move the cursor on top of the column heading's border (cursor changes to ) .
  3. Click and drag to the new location, as shown by the insertion pointer .


To add Column Text:

  1. Select the Text Tool in the ToolBox.
  2. Click in any column's cell, and start typing.
  3. Use the Down Arrow to move to the next line.

To add a Symbol, Horizontal Connector, Symbol:

  1. In the Toolbox, select the smaller plus at the beginning of a row.

  1. The entire row will be highlighted in blue.
  2. Move the cursor to the schedule area.
  3. Click on the start date and drag horizontally, as shown, then release the mouse button on the end date.


To add a vertical connector between two symbols:

  1. In the toolbox, click .
  2. In the schedule area, click once on the symbol from which you want the vertical connector
    to begin.
  3. In the toolbox, click once on the vertical connector to be used.
  4. In the schedule area, click once on the symbol that completes the connection from
    the first symbol.

A vertical connection appears between the two symbols.


To change a Symbol, Horizontal Connector, or Vertical Connector in the schedule:

  1. Select the Arrow Tool in the ToolBox.
  2. In the schedule area, click once on a Symbol that you want to change; or the symbol
    to the left of the Horizontal Connector you want to change; or the symbol atop the
    Vertical Connector that you want to change.
  3. In the Toolbox, click once on a different symbol, horizontal connector or vertical connector.

To customize a Symbol, Horizontal Connector, or Vertical Connector in the ToolBox:

  1. In the Toolbox, double click on a symbol, horizontal connector, or vertical connector.
  2. The Symbol or Connector Options box allows you to change the shape, fill color, text
    positioning, date positioning, and more.

The Symbol, Horizontal Connector, or Vertical Connector in the Toolbox is changed, as well as all occurrences on the schedule.


To add Symbol Text:

  1. Select the Arrow Tool in the ToolBox.
  2. Double-click the symbol on the schedule.
  3. The Symbol Properties dialog box appears; click the Text tab.
  4. Enter up to 3 lines of text in the Symbol Text Line 1, 2, or 3.
  5. Under Text Placement, select the positioning of the text.

To add Freeform Text:

  1. Select the Text Tool in the ToolBox.
  2. Click anywhere on the schedule, and start typing.

To create a SmartColumn:
  1. Choose Insert | Column and pick from available column types.

   OR, to change an existing column to a different SmartColumn type:

  1. Double-click the column heading cell.
  2. Click the Column Type (SmartColumn) Settings tab.
  3. On the SmartColumn Definition pull down menu, select a SmartColumn type.

To Publish a Schedule to the Internet:

  1. Create a schedule.
  2. Choose File | Internet Publishing.
  3. Our Wizard will guide you!
