Upsize your schedule for a large format printer or plotter

You might occasionally want to upsize your schedule so that it can be put up on a wall in an office.  When you are used to working on and using your schedule in letter size mode the process of upsizing might be daunting.

This article offers a procedure which you can use for your upsizing process.  Once you develop a template by following this procedure, future upsizing will entail just loading the template you created:

Save a copy of your schedule before you start
For best results, open the schedule you plan to upsize.  Save it with a new name and begin upsizing. Below the upsizing instructions you will see instructions for saving the schedule as a template which you can apply to any of your schedules.

Set the page size
On the Layout tab, set your chart size and margins.  Here are some common plotter sizes:

B: 17 by 11 inches    C: 22 by 27 inches    D: 34 by 22 inches   E: 44 by 34 inches

Upsize the Legend
On the Layout tab, increase the height of the legend.  If you are doubling the size of your schedule, consider doubling the height of the legend.

Increase the rows per page.
Also on the Layout tab, set the rows/page.  While a letter sized schedule can show at best 20 or 30 rows per page, it's possible to show over a hundred per plotter page.

Downsize the symbols
On the Format tab, set a smaller symbol size.  Choose and set a size significantly smaller than you are currently using.  Using a custom size it's possible to go down to 0.1.  The size you need will depend on the number of task rows you want on the page.

Downsize the fonts
On the Format tab, in the Default Text section, change the sizes of the Column Text, Legend Text, Symbol Text and any other text that is applicable to your schedule.

Save the template
When you are satisfied with your plotter ready schedule, Choose the small triangle to the right of Save As... on the File tab.  From the list, choose Personal Template and enter a name for your new template.

Apply the template
After opening a schedule you would like to upsize, choose the small triangle to the right of Open on the file tab.  From the list, choose Personal Template.  Then, select the template you just saved.
