| Milestones Professional provides
several tools for managing large projects or multiple projects. |
Master Schedules: Merge
schedules for a top-level view
Master
schedules make it easy to merge together coworkers’ schedules. In this
example, the Design and Manufacture schedules are maintained by two line
managers. When upper management wants to see the latest schedule, the
master schedule instantly gets the most up-to-date information from the
sub-schedules. (Schedule changes made to the master schedule do not appear
in the sub-schedules.)

Symbol links: Control
dates on other schedules |
Symbol linking lets you base the
date of a symbol in one schedule on the date of a symbol in another schedule or the same schedule.
In this example, management
monitors
the Main Schedule to see the start and end date progress of several
projects, including Web Site Project.
A line manager maintains the
detailed Web Site Project schedule. When Task1's start date or Task 4's
end date changes, those dates in the Main Schedule change accordingly
because they are linked.

Hyperlinks: Jump from any
symbol to another file |
Any symbol on your
schedule can have hyperlinks to other detailed schedules, documents, or web pages. Once linked, you can activate the objects with
a click of your mouse.

Hyperlinks can
be used in conjunction with Milestones Professional’s
Internet Publishing Wizard. Hyperlinked Milestones Professional
schedules and web pages will be published when a schedule is published,
complete with “hotspots” from the schedule symbols to the linked schedules
and web pages. |
Find and replace text |
Use
Find/Replace to quickly make detailed text changes to large schedules. Use
Find/Replace for column text, free form text, symbol notes, and symbol
text.
In the example below, Sue is taking over all of Kevin’s tasks. Using
Find “Kevin” and Replace with “Sue,” the large schedule is quickly
modified. Your last Find/Replace is saved and can be accessed with
Repeat
Last Find. |

Sort tasks by date, text,
and more
Milestones
Professional supports sorting by a variety of fields, including start
date, end date, currency values, text, and more. Save sort settings for
easy access to repetitive sorts. |
| |
In this
example, when sorting
the WHO column alphabetically by text, it’s easy to see that Mike is
overloaded during April, while Sue could take on more assignments.

Filter tasks by date, text
and more |
| |
With large
schedules, you may want to see only a subset of the project steps.
Milestones Professional’s Filter Task Lines feature allows you to “sift
out” task lines by types of symbols and connectors, date range, text,
numbers and more.
In this example,
tasks with a budget greater that $2,500 are filtered and displayed in
the second schedule, below. And, it’s easy to revert to the original,
unfiltered schedule.

Summarize multiple projects
in one schedule |
Maintain dozens
of projects within one Milestones schedule by creating a hierarchy of
projects, tasks, and subtasks (down to 20 subtask levels). |
| |
This outlined
schedule can be collapsed to the project level for a summary view or
expanded to the task level for a detailed view. Additional outlining
options are available, including shading by outline level, flexible
summary-bar display and more. |
| |
In the example
below, a single schedule with multiple projects is expanded to show all
projects and their subtasks. The next schedule displays only the project
level and the subtasks are hidden.
