You may want to
see only a subset of the schedule's project steps. Milestones
Professional's task filter function offers the following choices for
filtering:
Using this schedule as an example, see how to apply
various Milestones Professional filters.
Filter to view
all tasks
Choose this to display all tasks when you
have previously filtered the schedule, or choose Edit | Show
All Task Lines.
Choose Tools | Filter Task Lines.
Choose All Tasks from the drop-down
menu, and OK.
Filter by date range
Enter a start date and end
date. All tasks that have symbols or connectors within this date range
will be displayed.
Choose Tools | Filter Task Lines.
Choose Date Range from the drop-down
menu.
Enter start of range and end of range
dates.
Click OK.
The sample schedule with the filter dates seen here, would result
as follows:
Filter by text in columns
You can search for task lines whose
columns contain or do not contain specified words.
Choose Tools | Filter Task Lines.
Choose Column Text Containing from
the drop-down menu.
Choose the Ignore/Includes parameter
and enter text.
Enter a Current Filter Name and then
Save Settings, and OK.
The sample schedule with this filter would result as follows:
Filter by numbers greater than and less than
All tasks that contain numbers
greater/less than the number you enter will be displayed. To limit the
filter to only one column, select the column before choosing the
filter option.
Optionally, selected a column
containing numbers.
Choose Tools | Filter Task Lines.
Choose Numbers in column... from the
drop-down menu.
Enter a number, as shown to the
right, and OK.
The sample schedule with this filter applied to the Budget column,
would result as follows:
Filter by outline level
Choose an outline level from 1 to 20. Only tasks with that outline
level and above will be displayed.
Choose Tools | Filter Task Lines.
Choose Outline Level from the
drop-down menu.
Choose an outline level, as shown to
the right, and OK.
The sample schedule with this filter would result as follows:
Filter by range of task numbers
Enter a starting task number
and an ending task number. Only those tasks will be displayed. The
Task Number SmartColumn controls the numbering of the tasks.
Choose Tools | Filter Task Lines.
Choose Task Number from the drop-down
menu.
Enter start of range and end of range
numbers, and OK.
The sample schedule with this filter would result as follows:
Filter task lines by specific symbols and/or
connectors
Choose up to four symbols and/or
connectors that appear on task lines.
Choose Tools | Filter Task Lines.
Choose Symbol/Connector type from the
drop-down menu.
For both symbols and connectors,
choose up to four types that all appear or at least one appears on a
task line.
The sample schedule with this filter would result as follows:
Filter for task lines containing symbols with a
date range
Enter a start date and end
date. All tasks that have start symbols, end symbols or single
milestones within this date range will be displayed.
Choose Tools | Filter Task Lines.
Choose Symbols within Date Range from
the drop-down menu.
Enter start of range and end of range
dates.
Click OK.
