| Project Managers are often given budgets to
work with that must be evenly distributed across the time frame of their projects. Using
Milestones Professional's Type 3 ValueSet, this common budgeting need can be handled with ease! Start with the basics of your schedule including time frames and budget. |

| Next, to create a Type 3 Value Set: | |

On the Format menu, select DataGraph | Set Up ValueSets. |

From the available ValueSets, click on the first Create/Edit ValueSets button. |

Name the ValueSet and choose Type 3 Allocate Column Values Across Timeline. |

Select your budget column from the drop-down menu. |

NOTE: If you add or move columns, you may have to re-select your budget column. |

Click the Graphic Properties tab and choose the color of the bar or line graph, along with other formatting choices. |

| Now you're ready to set up your DataGraph | |

On the Format menu, select DataGraph | DataGraph Properties. |

For DataGraph 1, click the Assign ValueSets button and check the ValueSet you just created and click OK. |

Enter a Graph Height; choose Lines, Bars, or Wide Bars for the graphing style. |

Choose OK to return to the schedule. |
| Your new project schedule now has a DataGraph
that evenly distributes each of your budget values across the timeline. It's a simple yet
effective way to manage allocated budgets! Notice that as your timeline moves,
the budget is redistributed, providing an excellent way to do "What If"
Analysis. *To show the values below each task line, just select the Show Values Under Each Task Line option in the Graphic Properties tab in the ValueSet Properties dialog box. *The Budget column is a Values SmartColumn.
