Custom Date Heading

Create up to four different user-defined date headings per schedule. Any or all of those custom headings can be displayed using the four date heading levels on your schedule.

Create a custom heading

  1. Click on the date headings on the schedule.
  2. The toolbar will change to the Selection tab Current Object Heading.
  3. Choose   and the Create or Edit Custom Headings dialog box appears.
  4. Choose Custom Type 1 (or any custom heading that is available for use).
  5. In the first cell under Date Heading Text, enter the first heading text (e.g. "Phase 1").
  6. Tab over to Date that Time Period Ends On, and enter the date that the first time period ends.
  7. Refer to your project's starting date to determine the beginning date for the first entry's time span. That is, if the project start date is 1/1/2001 and the first date entry is 2/28/2001, then the first custom heading will span from 1/1 to 2/28.
  8. If this schedule will be viewed by others, it's best to choose Custom Heading Data is Embedded in Schedule.
  9. Continue these steps until you have entered all of your custom date heading's text and dates; then click OK. To display this custom heading, choose Custom Heading Type 1 (or 2, 3, or 4) under Heading Type.

Custom heading example #1

In this example for Custom Type 1, three line entries are made for Date Heading Text.

The text "Phase 1" will appear beginning on the schedule's start date and ending on the user-enter date 2/15/2004.

The text "Phase 2" will appear beginning 2/16/2004 and end on 4/30/2005.

The text "Phase 3" will appear from 5/1/2005 to 6/30/2006.

As shown in the image above, this custom heading is displayed along with two standard heading selections.
