New features and fixes to Milestones Professional 2008

• Print Preview screen corrected to appear on correct monitor if started on a multi-monitor system.

• Resize-after-edit issues with embedded Milestones objects in PowerPoint have been corrected. This option is on by default but can be turned off in the Tools | Program Options | general screen.
• If the Graphics properties dialog is displayed, on exiting the dialog, the Edit menu appears, instead of leaving a non-active Graphic selection menu in place.
• Display of imported bitmaps has been improved.

• Symbol hover time may now be set as high as 30 seconds. Before, the limit was 15 seconds. If the option to display expanded information is set, then the hyperlinked file name full path is displayed.

• Four new code page settings were added to Tools | Program Options | Files and Automation to better support reading in older version (prior to 2004U) non-Unicode Milestones files.

• In the Copy All Pages to PowerPoint feature, there was a problem that when slides added to the current presentation, slides were added incorrectly. Problem has been corrected.
• In the Microsoft Project Refresh feature there is a new enhancement: It is now possible to select a Microsoft Project Text field and have the text field populate the Milestones constraint field. This can be selected on the refresh options dialog box. Documentation for this feature can be found by selecting Microsoft Office Project Importing on the Help menu.
• In the Automation interface, the LoadFile method now supports loading Milestones schema XML files.
• In XML import/export feature for Milestones schema XML files, more attributes concerning taskline format overrides are now saved/retreived from the XML file.
• On the format menu on the Enhanced Toolbar, there is now a menu next to the Shadows/Highlights button that enables you to selectively remove all symbol highlighting or all shadows.

• A new horizontal connector was added. This new connector is a Null connector, i.e. it is always invisible. It will appear only if View | Highlight Invisible Symbols is checked. This connector, when paired with the Null symbol, Symbol 28, can be used to temporarily hide tasks from view. It could be useful in a "declutter" template which could be used to hide some less important task bars temporarily without having to delete them.
• A correction was made to the display position of symbol text set to display below the symbol at an angle of 120, 135, or 150 degrees.

• A new Create Vertical Link section has been added to the Symbol Selection menu under the Vertical Links tab. This is a third way to insert vertical links which was done to make it easier to insert links on dense schedules with overlapping or hard to select symbols. This option lets you select the parent and target symbols using any combination of mouse or keyboard. The currently selected Vertical Connector from the Toolbox is used to insert the connection when the Connect Now button is pressed.

• The Symbol Size menus that drop down from the Enhanced Toolbar now have the current global symbol size checked.

• When importing from Microsoft Office Project, it is now possible to tag symbols with WBS number. It is also possible to refresh with the WBS number.
• In the Microsoft Office Project interface, the performance for refresh using non-UniqueID (text field or WBS) has been significantly improved.
• Under Tools | Program Options | Edit it is now possible to select an option that, in most cases, speeds up screen redraws for charts that have a lot of 3D-look highlighted symbols.

• The decimal value of a color is now displayed in the dialog that appears when a color box is clicked in any dialog box. Before, only the RGB values and color name, if defined were displayed.

• In the Milestones Schema XML export and import options the following new tags are created and read: <MilestonesTasklineGrid> and <MilestonesSymbolColorOverrides>. These tags allow for better support of color overrides associated with symbols and gridlines.

• In the Microsoft Project Interface, a slowness issue with Milestones Refresh was corrected.

• Milestones Project Interface, Added abbreviations for symbol automation fields, to be used for Milestones Project Refresh:

• Fixed background color issue with Milestones Project Interface Dynamic Rollup coded summary import format.

• Fixed an issue with the Milestones Project Interface Coded Summary - Coded Symbols.

• In Milestones Project Interface, Milestones Refresh, added an option to Create Report when refreshing a Milestones schedule from Microsoft Project. The report is placed both on the clipboard and in the user's My Documents folder. The name of the report is milesrefreshfile.txt.

• In Milestones Project Interface, Milestones Refresh, added an option Ignore Times When Refreshing

• An option to enable extra highlighting of the currently selected menu tab when using the Enhanced Toolbar is now available under Tools | Program Options | General. This option is most useful if you are using the enhanced toolbar on the side or are not using gradient fills on the toolbar.

• Any user defined menus are now also displayed in the Enhanced Toolbar rendition of the Help menu.

• In the Microsoft Project Interface, Finish Dates plus Status Milestones template in Microsoft Project template is now refreshable.

• The registry flag that sets the default for whether or not embedded metafiles in a schedule are converted to bitmaps before the schedule gets saved as a metafile was still looking at the version 2006 section of the registry. This has been corrected.

• In the Microsoft Project Interface, Refresh option, in list of drop down text fields, Text 22 field was listed as "Test 22". This typo has been corrected.

• In the Microsoft Project Interface the Project Interface help file has been updated.

• In the Microsoft Project Interface extra cr/lf at end of tags are removed.

• When cell text is edited, either in the Enhanced Toolbar, or in the Column Text and Task Row Properties dialog, the situation where numerical values are backspced out in Values columns is now better handled.

• In the Microsoft Project Interface, updated Baseline Plus Actual with Status template. Updated accompanying code to yield more aesthetically pleasing results.

• In the Microsoft Project Interface, fixed ?? on refresh error occurring when using text field to update.
